Our History

Our name, Camp Aquila, is taken from the history of the property on which our sugar maples are located.

Prior to becoming our tree farm and sugar bush operation, the property was the well-respected "Camp Aquila for Boys" located on the Star Lake Peninsula in Otter Tail County.

The name, “Camp Aquila Pure Maple Syrup” TM (pronounced a-Kwill-a), takes its name from the history of the property where the syrup is produced. From 1948 to 1976 the property was operated as a well known private camp, called “Camp Aquila For Boys” located on the Star Lake peninsula in Otter Tail County, Minnesota.

The name Aquila, literally, “The Eagle,” is from a constellation in the Milky Way which appears in the summer sky over Star Lake.

We are grateful for the opportunity to live on-- and preserve-- this unique parcel of land, and to produce our pure maple syrup from the its abundant stand of sugar maples.
